ACHIEVE, ACCOMPLISH, ATTAIN
- achieve (verb): means to reach an objective or standard, especially by making an effort for a period of time.
E.g: He was delighted to have achieved his ambition of becoming a rock star.
- accomplish (verb): can mean the same meaning as achieve but has an additional sense of successfully completing something.
E.g: They safely accomplished the task of freeing the soldiers.
- attain (verb): means to reach a certain standard, and is the word to use when comparison or measurement is involved.
E.g: She attained the highest grades in her final exams.
- A less formal alternative to attain is the verb get.
